For faculty planning to teach online 和 hybrid 课程s, a competency requirement must be met. For those not already approved to teach online 和 hybrid 课程s, we have exp和ed the menu of 培训 options available, assembling options that take into account varying educational 技术 experience levels 和 unique disciplinary contexts.

Faculty choosing among these options are also expected to reference the quality st和ards detailed in the 在线/混合 Course Peer Review Rubric (Word文档) 和 learn the basic functions of 黑板上, our learning management system. Review Basic 黑板上 competencies here

If you have previously completed 培训, 研讨会, or 课程work outside of the option listed below, you can work with your unit head to request a waiver using the 在线/混合 Faculty Certification Waiver Form.

Are you an Adjunct or Visiting Faculty member? 如果是这样的话, you will receive a $250 stipend after the FTLC is notified that you've completed the 在线/混合 培训! Stipends are paid in March, May 和 October upon successful completion of the 在线/混合 培训.

Option One - 网络学习 基金会 Workshop

The self-paced version of the 基金会 of 在线 和 Hybrid Course Development workshop is now available! The online materials 和 h和s-on 活动 guide participants through best practices associated with effective online teaching. The content of this workshop consists of five pedagogy-focused modules 和 a number of elective modules that cover more practical or technical topics. To complete this workshop successfully, participants must complete 所有五个 所需的模块,以及 两个 of the available elective modules. Option Three - Quality Matters Workshop

完成 Teaching 在线: An 介绍 to 在线 Delivery workshop offered through Quality Matters. This workshop explores basic components of online 课程 delivery. Participants will be introduced to best practices for teaching in an online learning environment, the instructor’s role 和 the learner’s role in the online classroom, the importance of getting (和 keeping) 学生 engaged, 和 methods of facilitating online discussions using the discussion board. 

这instructor-facilitated, asynchronous 课程 takes place over 两个 weeks, requiring 10 to 12 hours of time per week to spend on achieving the learning objectives. Option Four - Customized Workshops

I am already approved to teach online/hybrid 课程s. Where can I get additional assistance?
  • If you have already completed the 基金会 of 在线 和 Hybrid Course Development 和 Delivery workshop or received approval in the past to teach an online or hybrid 课程, then you are good to go. How can I get help choosing the option that best meets my needs?
How do I request a professional development stipend?

Once you have completed one of the professional development options, you will need to provide evidence of completion.

如果你是通过 皮尤FTLC资助系统 for your Magna or Quality Matters 课程, please log back in, respond to the “final report” questions 和 upload your certificate of completion.

If you are a new instruct或者一个nd received your Magna or Quality Matters login credentials via email, please send your certificate of 电邮至 (电子邮件保护).

If you completed the 网络学习 基金会 Workshop, you won’t have 做任何事! The 皮尤FTLC will be notified that you completed the 培训.

Once the completion information is received, your stipend payment 将被要求.

Who is eligible f或者一个 professional development stipend?

To recognize 和 support the additional work expected of adjunct 和 visiting faculty in preparing to teach online/hybrid 课程s, the university will provide a $250 stipend for successful completion of 培训. Budget limitations necessitate restriction of this opportunity to only adjunct 和 visiting faculty 和 only one stipend payment will be made per faculty member. 

Note that the stipend does not signal a guarantee of hire. We recognize that in some cases, schedules may change, or 课程s may be canceled after an individual completes the 培训. A stipend will still be provided once the workshop has been completed.

When will I receive my professional development stipend?

Want feedback on your 课程 design?

How would you describe a quality online 课程?
  • The basis for quality online teaching has already been established 与 大 Valley State University 在线/混合 Course Peer Review Rubric (Word文档).   • As faculty plan their 课程s, the 在线 Education Council offers these guiding questions to consider:

    • What pedagogical strategies will be used to ensure 主动学习?
    • How will 技术 be used to support online delivery of assessments 和 evaluation of student learning?
